About Zanders
Zanders supports companies and institutions worldwide wherever they come into contact with financial markets, specifically within the domains of treasury and (financial) risk. The growth Zanders to 450 colleagues in 12 countries over the past 30 years is the result of an emphasis on expertise and close, personal contact, both among ourselves and in our client relationships.
The Zanders Solutions division provides specialised cloud solutions within our Treasury and Financial Risk Management and advisory knowledge domains with the aim of providing operational and compliance relief to our clients. Next to our software development efforts, we have recently set up a client facing GenAI Delivery team to develop and deploy GenAI solutions at our clients.
The Solutions team, responsible for our cloud services currently consists of 18 full time engineers and is expected to grow to around 40 in the next year. The team has a varied background ranging from software development and DevOps to content experts and marketing and sales professionals. Our colleagues work together informally from the Netherlands and Croatia. At the same time, as part of the larger Zanders organization, we are surrounded by fun, motivated colleagues who have fun at work; something that is very important to us.
Your role:
You play a key leadership role in guiding our engineering teams in Croatia and the Netherlands. Partnering closely with product managers and other stakeholders, you ensure that business needs and technical execution stay aligned. You help set priorities, support your teams in delivering high-quality software, and promote a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You streamline development practices, foster clear communication across locations, and maintain focus on delivering outcomes that advance our broader organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coaching and Career Development: Act as a career coach and mentor for developers, helping them identify growth areas, define clear growth goals and development plans, build new skills, and advance in their careers. Conduct regular 1:1s, growth discussions, and feedback sessions to support continuous learning.
- Team Capability Building: Drive initiatives that strengthen technical knowledge, collaboration, and best practices within engineering teams. Encourage knowledge-sharing, peer learning, and internal tech sessions to foster continuous development.
- Facilitate Team Collaboration: Promote open communication and cross-functional collaboration between developers, Product Delivery Lead, Product Managers, and the Tech Lead. Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and high-trust environment where engineers feel supported and valued.
- Support the Tech Lead: Work closely with the Tech Lead to ensure engineers have the right resources, clarity, and time to deliver on technical goals. While the Tech Lead makes all technical decisions, the Engineering Manager reinforces alignment, morale, and capability to enable those decisions to succeed.
- Gen AI Delivery Coordination: Lead coordination efforts for the Gen AI delivery team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, delivery timelines, and cross-functional priorities. Support planning, track progress, and facilitate smooth execution.
- Hiring and Onboarding: Collaborate with hiring teams to attract and onboard top engineering talent. Ensure new hires are integrated effectively and set up for long-term success.
- Culture and Engagement: Champion a culture of growth, learning, and psychological safety. Encourage open dialogue, feedback, and continuous improvement in both technical and interpersonal areas.
Skills to be successful:
- 8+ years experience in a software development environment, including prior experience as an Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or People Manager in a software development environment,
- Strong ability to coach, mentor, and develop engineers at various career stages,
- You have a strong engineering background in modern web stacks (e.g. Python, TypeScript, cloud-native architectures). You don’t need to be the most senior coder in the room, but you are able to assess technical depth, challenge trade-offs, and collaborate closely with the Tech Lead to maintain a high hiring bar,
- Proven experience in performance management, career pathing, and capability development,
- Skilled in facilitation and feedback, with a focus on collaboration and trust-building,
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to build relationships across technical and non-technical teams,
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional delivery initiatives (experience with Gen AI projects is a plus),
- Fluent level of English (spoken and written).
